Every two years Arup Associates organizes a prestigious luncheon to celebrate architecture at the Venice Biennale. The invitations are sent to an exclusive audience, comprising of international renowned architects, film makers and artists. The design objective was to create a connection with the architectural rich location of the event, while at the same time serve as a map for the guests. The invites reflect the exclusive character of the event through the custom laser cut and the handmade assembly of each of these 200 pieces.
The main body of the invite consists of a piece of wood, which features a detailed map of Venice, while the edges are painted by hand, corresponding to the color of the wrapper. The invitation details were printed with white ink on opaque paper, which wraps around the wood. This is held together through a round sticker, allowing the user to tear it off and keep the laser cut piece of wood as a souvenir.
